Józef Piłsudski's Park on Zdrowie is the largest green area in Łódź. The historic park is made up mostly of common species of trees. Among them walking alleys are situated. There is also an artificial pond and a part called a dendrological garden, where common tree species were planted, however those are rare varieties.
The park had been founded in the 1920s. At that time, about 300,000 trees were planted there, an artificial pond was dug and alleys were led. The basic concept of land development hasn't changed over the last hundred years. It is a forest type park with popular species of trees that grow in Poland. In its area there are sports and recreation facilities such as pitches and tennis courts. Part of the park was separated as a dendrological garden. Less known varieties of popular tree species are located there. In the park, you can also see 18 monumental trees, including silver maples, horse-chestnuts, and northern red oaks. Józef Piłsudski's Park on Zdrowie is now part of the forest-recreational On Zdrowie Complex, along with the Botanical Garden, Zoo, and the Polesie Konstantynowskie nature reserve.Less
