The Radogoszcz Museum is located in the place of the former Extended Police Prison in Radogoszcz. During World War II, a transit camp for men was there. The exhibition includes photographs of the life in the camp, memories of prisoners, secret messages, and few memorabilia from prisoners.
The camp in Radogoszcz had been active from 1939 to 1945. Although it wasn't an extermination camp, it is compared with places of mass destruction due to the personality of the commander, sadist Walter Pelzhausen. The biggest crime committed in the camp was murdering and burning (often alive) about 1,500 prisoners just before the arrival of the Red Army. One of the exhibitions is devoted to that event. The second exhibition presents the history of the camp, its models, the reconstruction of the prison cell, and the "workshop" where prisoners were tortured, and memorabilia of prisoners. There are not too many of them because most of them were burned during the decommissioning of the camp. There are also uniforms and equipment used by guards and oppressors.Less
