The building was built between 1881 and 1894 in the style of the Italian Renaissance. The interior of the Villa richly embellished with moldings, marbles, and panelling was decorated with great splendour and luxury. It was the first Villa of this type in Łódź. The inside of the object included living room, dining room, library, butler's pantry, private offices, and ballroom. The elevators, used for the transport between floors, were very modern solution for those times. Building is surrounded by a garden founded in the same time as the villa. Currently, the garden area is occupied by the Jan Kiliński's city park.
After the end of World War II, the NKVD had its headquarters in the Villa building. At that time, luxurious interiors and objects from the Villa were stolen. From all of the equipment of the facility, it was possible to save the antique crockery set for guests and Ludwik Grohman's desk, which nowadays stands in one of the rooms of the Herbst's Villa.The Grohman's Villa building in Łódź is owned by a private investor. Even though the property has undergone a renovation, it isn't intended for sightseeing. The construction of the of Vilia can be seen only by walking along the alleys of the park from which the object is visible.Less
