The church is not only the tallest building in Łódź, but also the fourth on the list of the highest churches in Poland. Its tower measures 104.5 m. It houses the "Heart of Łódź" - a replica of the bell lost during World War II.
The church in the neo-Gothic style was built in 1901-1912 according to the design of the Lodz (German) company "Wende and Zarske". Noteworthy is the rich interior furnishings - many works that originate in the early twentieth century, were funded by wealthy industrial families. In the altar of the cathedral's patron he finds a faithful copy of the Shroud of Turin. The history of the bell for the Cathedral of St. Stanisław Kostka, a gift from the city's inhabitants. They made donations and carried items made of silver, brass and tin. In this way, in 1911, we managed to raise funds for the casting of a 4.5-ton, 2-meter high bell named "Zygmunt". He was called the "heart of Łódź". During World War II, the bell was dismantled and taken to Germany. The monument was never found. Exactly 100 years after the casting of the first bell, again thanks to social sacrifice, a replica of the "Heart of Lodz" again killed on the cathedral tower.Less
