Old Spa House

The huge Neo-Renaissance building rising on Aleja Nowotarski in Krynica-Zdrój is the Old Spa House. This building is one of the most recognizable and most visited buildings in the city. It features a water pump room, a ball room and a number of other rooms.
Old Spa House was built in 1889. The water pump in it offers water from Mieczysław source, used to treat gastrointestinal diseases, urinary tract, kidney and anemia. This source owes its name to Mieczyslaw Dukiet, a physician working in the Crimean health resort.
In addition to the pump room in the Old Spa House there is a splendid ballroom. There used to be various types of balls and races in it, attended by important personalities, among others. Marshal Józef Piłsudski.
The figure of the Old Spa House can be recognized even by people who have never visited Krynica Zdroj. The building is on the packaging of waters from Krynica sources.
