Eagle Pharmacy is located in the Ghetto Heroes Square in place of the former ghetto. It's a department of the Historical Museum of the City of Kraków dedicated to the Holocaust of Kraków's Jews. The interior of the pharmacy was recreated in style from the times of the occupation. It consists of packagings of drugs and pharmacy equipment from the times of World War II.
It was the only pharmacy operating in the Kraków's ghetto. It was run by Tadeusz Pankiewicz, the only Pole living in the ghetto for the entire time it existed. Eagle Pharmacy was established in 1909 in the area of the then separate city of Podgórze. After the war, a pub was in place of the pharmacy until 1981 when it was reorganized for the sake of the museum. In 1983, it was officially opened. Eagle Pharmacy together with the other departments of the Historical Museum of the City of Kraków - Schindler Factory and Pomorska Street - constitute Memory Route dedicated to the history of Kraków during the occupation.Less
