Kołobrzeg Amphitheatre

Local name: Amfiteatr w Kołobrzegu

The amphitheater was created after the First World War, in the place where the Wolf Fort used to be. Currently, during the summer there are concerts and festivals here, attracting crowds of tourists. The most famous event at the Kołobrzeg amphitheater is the Sunrise electronic music festival.

The first amphitheater was built on the remains of the bastion in 1925. Earlier, the area of the neglected fort was taken over by the Kołobrzeg municipality. The remains of the old fortress were used to build the amphitheater. In the interwar period, the amphitheater was very popular among the people visiting the health resort. During the Second World War, the fortifications returned to the fort. A strong point of German defense was placed there.

After the war, the area belonged to the People's Army. The amphitheater returned to its former place in 1968. A new roof construction was erected and the building was put into operation a few days before the inauguration of the Soldier's Song Festival. The Soldier's Song Festival was an event known all over the country and on the stage there were stars of the largest size, such as Czesław Niemen, Czerwono-Czarni and Maryla Rodowicz.
