Museum of Ceramic Techniques

Local name: Muzeum Technik Ceramicznych

The museum is the only institution of this type in Poland. At the permanent exhibition you can admire faience from the Freudenreich family factory in Koło. In addition, numerous historical, archaeological and numismatic exhibits are collected here. In addition to the typical exhibition activity, the institution deals with archaeological research and conducts educational activities.

The originator of the museum was Czesław Freudenreich, who as the heir to the factory founded in 1842, had a large collection of family porcelain, semi-porcelain, faience and majolica. This plan was not implemented due to lack of finance. The collection of valuable ceramic products was lost during World War II, which is why the objects that were created in the first years of the factory in Koło belong to the most valuable in the museum's collections.

In addition to ceramics from the Koło Faience Factory, we will also find here products from other Polish and European factories from World War II and the post-war period. A special place here is occupied by the works of Helena Majewska and Maria Zawielak-Hadaczek. They are characterized by beauty, unconventional style and attractive ornamentation and originality of form.
