The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Turku is a neo-Gothic temple built at the beginning of the 20th century. Its greatest treasure are interior polychromes made by one of the greatest painters of the period, Józef Mehoffer.
The church was replaced by an earlier medieval temple. It was built in 1904–1913, and the authors of the project were Konstanty and Jarosław Wojciechowscy. It is a brick building, on the Latin cross plan. It has a polygonal presbytery and a slender tower topped with a pointed spire.
In the years 1933–1939, the interior decorations of the temple were made by the famous painter Józef Mehoffer, who was the creator of, among others, stained glass windows for the cathedral in Freiburg. He created ornamental polychromes, stained glass windows in the presbytery and stalls.
