Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Local name: Kościół Wniebowzięcia NMP

The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is the oldest church with the Baroque decor in the city. It impresses with the richness of paintings, moldings, and wood carvings. Especially worthy of attention are the main altar and side altars, 12 figures of apostles in the main nave, the pulpit, confessionals, pews, the casing, chapels, and many more beautiful monuments.

This monumental Gothic building is one of the most gorgeous churches in Kłodzko Land. Its history dates back to the period between the first half of the 15th century to the first half of the 16th century. It impresses with the size - its length amounts to over 60 m while its width reaches 44,5 m in some places. The impression of its largeness is complemented by two towers.

The church was renovated and modernized in the 17th century. It then gained a Baroque character and was connected to the building of Jesuitic Collegium. The Jesuits, who reside in the church and the neighboring monastery to this day, were restituted in 1814. The church is one of the most interesting tourist destinations in Kłodzko.
