The District Museum of the Kalisz Region has existed since 1906. The museum's activity focuses primarily on the documentation of the history of Kalisz and the Kalisz region. It collects archaeological, ethnographic and art history collections.
Archaeological collections include equipment of grave objects, metal inventory. The ethnographic part has in its collection e.g. costumes, religious items, instruments and handicrafts, while the historical collections - military and cartographic archives. The facility was built
in 1914 and has four branches: the Drawing and Graphic Center, the Archaeological Reserve, the Literary Department and the Palace and Park Complex.
The District Museum of the Kalisz Region organizes workshops for visitors, e.g. learning how to make dishes inspired by ceramic museum exhibits, workshops on medieval beekeeping and cooking cooking from medieval recipes.
