Karkonosze Museum
Local name: Muzeum Karkonoskie
The collection of the Jelenia Góra Museum includes more than 26 thousand. Among the exhibits, which enchants the largest collection of artistic glass in Poland. On permanent exhibitions there is also an interesting collection of Karkonosze paintings, prints and one of the largest collections of glass paintings in the country in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
The most interesting exhibit of the museum is a traditional Sudeten cottage standing under a glass roof, as well as an exhibition of the original interiors of a burger house. The museum also presents temporary exhibitions.
The Jeleniogórska institution has a rich tradition, because its history is connected with the museum opened in 1914 in the Giant Mountains in German Jelenia Góra. After the Second World War, in the 50's - already in the Polish Jelenia Góra - after a lot of hardship a regional museum was opened. After the political changes in Poland, the museum was enriched with new regional branches, and in the years 2000-2001 the institution carried out repairs of the Jelenia Góra seat.
