Grodzka Tower
Local name: Baszta Grodzka
It is a semi-basement with a built-in residential building. Entrance to it is decorated by a baroque portal, transferred from a demolished tenement house. In addition to getting to know the historical values of architecture, tourists can also visit a small art gallery and a café.
The tower was built in the 15th century as one of the 36 towers to reinforce the city walls, but already in the 17th century it was adapted for residential purposes. In the next century it completely lost its original function and, after reconstruction, was handed over to private owners. At that time, a number of merchants were living there, but more importantly citizens, such as a postmaster or a city doctor.
After 1945 there were communal flats, and since the 1970s various cultural institutions, House of Creative Artists and Tourist and Cultural Information Center.
