The Museum of the Beginnings of the Polish State in Gniezno is a unique place on the map of Poland, where exhibitions related to the history of Poland in the early Middle Ages and exhibits related to the history of Gniezno and its surroundings are displayed. In the establishment you can see many valuable exhibits, including one of the richer collections of Baroque and Renaissance stove tiles, painting from the nineteenth century, or fragments of equipment of the cathedral of Gniezno.
In the museum, exhibits can be admired both at permanent and temporary exhibitions. The most interesting exhibition is called "The Beginning of the Polish State" and was officially opened in 1983. There are over 500 museums. These include: the reconstruction of the wooden fortress of Gniezno from the tenth century, architectural details from the Gniezno cathedral, as well as objects related to the religion and life of the first Piasts, as well as elements of the old military equipment.
Also in the museum there are exhibitions such as: "Gniezno in the Olden Days", "The Armory in the Old Poland", "The Piasts Painted History". Additional attraction is an audiovisual performance, thanks to which you can get to know the history and culture of the first Piasts.
