The Archdiocesan Museum in Gniezno was built on the Lech Hill near the Gniezno Cathedral. The collections that can be admired here are mainly monuments of sacred art belonging to the Archdiocese of Gniezno, also include the former cathedral treasury, in which extremely valuable exhibits have been collected for centuries. In addition, the facility takes care of the cathedral treasury, which, next to the Wawel and Jasna Gora mountains, has the most valuable monuments, and also takes care of the monuments of the archcathedral, e.g. the famous Gniezno Door.
The exhibits were presented on three levels. The first contains exhibits from the cathedral treasury. The most valuable objects shown at this level include the Chalice of St. Wojciech from the 10th century, the Chalice of Dąbrówka from the 12th century, as well as priceless reliquaries. Unfortunately, the museum has lost some of its monuments, e.g. the golden sarcophagus and the golden sculpture of Christ.
The second level houses an exhibition about death and transience. On the third, there are exhibits presenting an extensive gallery of saints. Temporary exhibitions are also presented here.
