The Franciscan fathers, led by the Franciscan fathers, were founded around 1270 in the early Gothic style. At present, the interior is preserved in Baroque and Rococo styles. In the church you should pay attention to the baroque image of Our Lady of Consolation, crowned by John Paul II during the papal pilgrimage to Poland in 1997, and the Relics of Blessed Jolanta.

On the altar in the northern part is a chestnothe reliquary of Blessed Jolanta, created by Gabriel Hermeling of Cologne before 1892. On the side walls of the relics were placed eight scenes of the life of the Blessed. Her grave has gained fame with miracles and graces, and many pilgrims came to him. The kings of Poland: Zygmunt Stary and Zygmunt III. Blessed Jolanta is patroness of the Archdiocese of Gniezno, Kalisz and Wielkopolska.

The church was funded by Boleslaw the Pious in 1259. The temple was expanded several times. Destroyed after the fire in 1613 it was rebuilt.
