Tourists strolling along the beach in Gdynia can notice a building emerging from the sea a few hundred meters from the shore - it is a torpedo station on Babie Doły. During the World War II, a German research center was located there, and now it is a characteristic element of the seaside landscape of Gdynia and an important monument of a military nature.
Back in the 1990s, the torpedo station was connected to the mainland by a wooden bridge, but it was demolished. Since the World War II, the German torpedo station room has been exposed to extreme weather conditions so it has been slowly falling to ruin. Today, walking along the seashore, one can actually see the ruins of the torpedo station - it is devoid of the front wall, which collapsed in the 1980s.Less
