Built in the 14th century, it is one of the oldest monuments of Cieszyn Silesia. This is a remnant of the medieval Piast castle. The Gothic stone tower is about 30 meters high. Throughout history, the tower was considered the symbol of Cieszyn.
The tower was part of the upper castle. As one of the four towers was an important element of the defense system of the Cieszyn castle. At the end of the 15th century, the tower was built by another storey and the whole was covered with a high tent roof.
In the years 1976-1989 the object was subjected to restoration work. At that time the cornered coat of arms with the Piast eagle was restored. In 2015, renovation was taking place in the upper part of the Tower, so called. battlements. Concrete stairs have been restored, gates, platforms and ceilings have been completed.
From the viewing terrace of the tower there is a panorama of Cieszyn (Polish and Czech) and the mountain peaks of the Silesian Beskid.
