The Museum of Palace Interiors presents the decor of palaces from the 18th and 19th centuries and many items and documents showing the history of this object and its owners. The palace, where the museum is located, belonged to the Branicki Family who used it as a summer residence. It was eagerly visited by King August III of Poland.
The original building was constructed in the 18th century. In the 20th century, it burnt but was rebuilt from 1962 to 1973. The palace is a rectangular, one-story building with semicircular corners covered with a hipped roof with dormers. It stands on an artificial island surrounded by canals which are based on waterways in Versailles. The interior and the equipment aren't original, however, they reflect typical decor of then palaces. Visitors can admire numerous rooms such as Room of His Lordship, Room of Her Ladyship, living room, dressing room, office, vestibule, and many more. The rooms are decorated with beautiful furniture, paintings from the 17th-19th centuries, mirrors, clocks, sculptures, Argand lamps, porcelain, glass arts, and carpets. The palace is surrounded by the vast, 25-ha park designed probably by French architect Ricaud de Tirregaile. It resembles gardens in Vaux-le-Vicomte and Versailles.Less
