This representative monument is located in the area of the Old Town in Bydgoszcz. Charmingly located by the Brda River, it delights with the original, full of detail architecture of the Dutch mannerism. The palace was built in the years 1885-1886 by the sea captain Otto Liedtke. The author of the project was the construction master Waldemar Jenisch. The building was part of a larger complex that consisted of storehouses, a garage, and a tenement house.
Until 1908 the palace had been a house of the owner and his family, later it was bought by the Bydgoszcz Inland Navigation Society. The building was rebuilt and intended for administration and office purposes. In 1995, the property was passed to hands of BRE Bank. The new owner has thoroughly renovated the Palace, such architectural details as obelisks, cornices, and pediments have been recreated. In the place of the former, additional facilities of the complex (tenement house, garage and storehouses), in the years 1997-1998, two modern buildings were built. They are made of glass, clinker bricks, and steel. They have been called "new granaries".Less
