Exploseum

Local name: Exploseum

The museum, also known as the centre of war techniques, Exploseum is a complex of seven buildings connected by a network of narrow corridors. The route of exploration is determined by the former nitroglycerin production line.

Factory buildings present memorabilia dedicated to the history of the factory, enriched with iconography, interactive solutions, and multimedia. Part of the exhibition is dedicated to the founder of the factory and the whole family of Alfred Nobel, as well as the history of the Nobel Prize.

Futher exhibitions show particular periods in the history of the factory, from its heyday during the war until the end of its activity. The collection includes more than a thousand documents and plans concerning functioning of the factory, photographs, and multimedia about the nitroglycerin production process.

A collection documenting the history of weapons includes, among others, a 15th-century harquebus, modern flintlocks, legendary colt, and Russian CKM Maxim from 1910.

Equally rich is the exhibition dedicated to the history of explosives from the invention of gunpowder to modern materials. The exhibitions also document the slave labor of 40,000 workers and captives, conspiracy and sabotage in a factory.
