Orthodox church of St. Michael

Local name: Cerkiew św. Michała

Former Greek Catholic church St. Archangel Michael is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List and is part of the Wooden Architecture Trail. The eighteenth-century Lemko temple represents the northwestern type, but it has been significantly transformed. Inside you can see, among others baroque iconostasis and polychrome made by well-known church painters, Bogdańskis from Jaśliska, as well as the baroque pulpit, interesting music choir and two 18th-century side altars with icons of the Mother of God and the Transfiguration.

The first temple was built shortly after the creation of the Uniate parish in 1616, and the next in 1653. The present church was founded around 1797. The three-part structure with a log structure was rebuilt and enlarged in 1831. A new presbytery was erected then, and the roofs and ceilings were replaced. After the displacement of the Uniates as part of the "Wisła" Action in 1947, the temple was taken over by the Latin church.
