Today, the medieval castle is not only impressive ruins. A museum and permanent exhibition entitled "Defensive Construction of the Świdnicko-Jaworski Principality" has been operating here since 1949. There has also been a knightly brotherhood in the castle since 1995, so knights' tournaments and numerous cultural and educational events are organized here.
The renovation carried out in 1922 restored the functionality of the building. A youth hostel was opened on the ground floor and a regional museum on the first floor. The object was also the background for such films as "The Witcher" and "Secret of the Cipher Fortress". The Renaissance building and the castle tower reduced by three meters are best preserved in the complex. The medieval layout of the defensive walls and the string of residential buildings was well preserved, however, without ceilings and internal walls. Bolków Castle was founded by the Duke of Legnica Bolesław II in the second half of the 13th century. For over three centuries, it systematically changed its owners, eventually reaching the Prussian state treasury. At the end of the 19th century, parts of the castle walls were demolished.Less
