Bełchatów Regional Museum presents several permanent exhibitions showing the court interiors, the history and independence traditions of Bełchatów, and also the craft, folk art and prehistory of the region. The most valuable exhibits are firearms and the over-hundred-years-of copy of the painting by Jan Matejko - "Kościuszko pod Racławicami" (Battle of Racławice).
Apart from militaria, uniforms, cold steel, and military equipment, especially worthy of attention is the rich collection of pistols and rifles. It includes the Maxim gun or the Nagant Revolver - an infamous weapon used by officers of Soviet security authorities. The museum is located in the monumental 18th-century building known as Olszewski Manor. In the beginning, it was a headquarters of the szlachta Rychłowski Family, owners of Bełchatów. Its current name comes from the last owner - doctor Wacław Olszewski. In the 1980s, the manor was taken over by State Treasury. The museum operates here since 1995.Less
