Viewpoint to the Bełchatów brown coal open-cast mine. The mine excavation is 8 km long, 3 km wide, and deep is on average 200 m. It is the largest artificially created "hole in the ground" in Europe. It can be seen even from Earth's orbit, from a satellite circulating at an altitude of 350 km.
In Kleszczów we will need a binoculars or a camera with a telephoto lens. However, it is worth going to the viewpoint even without equipment. In good weather, we can admire the unusual, industrial landscape of the mine excavation and monstrous machines working in it. The largest excavator working in Bełchatów is about 60 m high and weighs nearly 6,000. tone. The central point of the panorama is the Bełchatów Power Plant. This is the world's largest brown coal power plant. Its giant chimneys are 306 m high.
