The Orthodox church in Bartne is an example of typical sacral architecture in west Lemkivshchyna (region inhabited by the Lemko People). It is a tripartite building with a tower above the porch. It has the full equipment including the iconostasis and the very valuable portal moved from the orthodox church in Nieznajowa which no longer exist. The church is administered by the Museum of Karwacjan and Gładysz Manors in Gorlice.
The orthodox church was built in the first half of the 19th century. There is also another Orthodox church with the same name in the city but it is a hundred years younger. The church had been abandoned after resettlements of the Lemko People after World War II. It was saved thanks to the efforts of the Regional Museum in Nowy Sącz and then by the museum in Gorlice. It is one of the destinations in the Trail of Wooden Architecture.
It is a western-Lemko church oriented to the east. It consists of the small presbytery, the wider square nave, and the tower above the porch. The church is upholstered with wood shingles and its tower is topped by the Baroque shingled tented roof. Wall polychromies and the complete iconostasis can be admired inside.
