Grote Markt

The main town square marked out in the 13th century was called Cruys Marct - probably from a cross rising on it, a symbol of the law allowing the organization of the market. The most important buildings at Grote Markt are the municipal building and the 13th-century Stevenskerk - the oldest and largest church in Nijmegen.
