Amsterdam Gate
Local name: Amsterdamse Poort
Built in 1355, the building is the only surviving of the twelve medieval city gates in Haarlem. In the vicinity of the gate is a statue of Kenau Simonsdochter Hasselaer (1526-1588) - a wood trader who was to lead 300 women to fight the Spaniards during the siege of the city in 1573.
