Royal Delft - Ceramic Factory and Museum
Local name: Royal Delft - Keramiekfabriek en Museum
Royal Delf is the last traditional ceramic factory in the Netherlands that uses techniques developed in the 17th century. Visitors can trace porcelain production technology with characteristic, world-famous blue patterns and genre scenes used to cover local products.
Part of the visit is the possibility of suspecting painters at work who are still decorating porcelain dishes by hand today. You can also see clay-forming potters and learn the secrets of double glazing and firing dishes. The tour finale is to visit an exhibition of finished products.
The rapid development of ceramic art in Delf took place over the 17th and 18th centuries - it was a response to the growing demand for porcelain, which until now was imported from China. In a short time the name "faience from Delft" became the name of the world-renowned ceramic products from the Netherlands.
