Grand Masters Crypt

Crypt under the cathedral of St. John, which contains the graves of twelve fifteenth and sixteenth century Grand Masters of the Order of the Knights of Malta. It was placed exactly under the main altar to emphasize the rank of the people buried here. The sarcophagi made of stone were decorated with baroque sculptural decorations depicting floral motifs and genre scenes.
