The villa is surrounded by one of the most famous Italian mannerist gardens. Since 2014, the building belongs to the Italian state and is managed by the Polo Museale of Lazio. His design is attributed to Jacopo Barozzi da Vignola. In 2011, the garden surrounding the villa was named "the most beautiful park in Italy".
