The bridge leads to Castelvecchio and was built by Cangrande II della Scala in 1354-1356. Originally, the bridge served military functions. On both sides of the crossing were towers, of which one has survived to this day. The crossing was demolished during World War II, and then rebuilt in 1949–1951.
