Toblach is called the gateway to the Dolomites. It is a popular tourist and holiday destination located several kilometers from the famous Cortina d'Ampezzo. The area is known for its cross-country skiing tracks and in summer for mountain hiking.
The town is situated in a mountain valley. Its oldest part is centered around a baroque church. Further on, there are estates consisting largely of guesthouses and apartments for rent. Most of the buildings are kept in a nice, alpine style. The composer Gustav Mahler, who had his studio here, appreciated the beauty of the village. Currently, there is a museum there.
Toblach's main attractions revolve around skiing. In winter, there are many kilometers of running races in the area. It is also close from here to the ski slopes to Cortina d'Ampezzo and Monte Pelmo and to the large Plan de Corones ski resort.
