The construction of the aqueduct began in 1256 during the reign of Manfredi di Svevia. The aqueduct was to transport the waters of the Gizio River in the city. It remains an important example of the construction industry of the era. It consists of 21 pointed stone arches, and between the 7th and 8th arches is a plaque with a Lombard style verse.
