The most important city square of Rovigo, laid out during the medieval period when the city was under the rule of Venice. In its central point there is a monument to King Victor Emmanuel II erected at the end of the 19th century, and in the corner there is a column with a statue of the Venetian lion, St. Mark. The square is surrounded by medieval and renaissance tenement houses with arcades, where shops and restaurants are currently operating.
