The Mauseleum of Cecylia Metelli (Mausoleo di Cecilia Metella) in Rome is a historic tomb with a cylindrical shape, decorated with festivals and ornaments in the form of bull heads. He comes from the first century BC The daughter of the Roman praetor and consul Quintus Cecylius Metellus Cretan was buried in it. Today there is a museum here.
The tomb is 11 meters high, while its diameter is almost 30 meters. The whole is made of concrete, the surface is covered with travertine plates. At the top there are battlements - remains from the time when the building served as a fortress (Middle Ages).
The mausoleum was a model and an inspiration for architects creating plans for two Polish buildings - the kitchen located in the Warsaw Classicist palace, the so-called Królikarnia and the waterworks in the Royal Łazienki.
