The Felice Aqueduct was built in the second half. 16th century on the order of Pope Sixtus V. It was the first modern water supply in Rome. His name comes from the private name of the pope - Felice Peretti. The showcase of the object is the monumental Fountain of Moses by Domenico Fontana, which is the symbolic end of the aqueduct. The section of the aqueduct from the source to the Parco degli Acquedotti park continues to this day and is an attraction for tourists and ducks.
The author of the project was Giovanni Fontana. His idea largely used the arcades of the ancient aqueduct Aqua Marcia. The water supply was initially to supply the emerging papal palace on the Quirinal and the huge residence of Sixtus V, which was located between Santa Maria Maggiore and the current square Piazza dei Cinquecento.
Since the nineteenth century, the Moses Fountain has been fed with city water. The reason was the interruption of the aqueduct as a result of the construction of the Termini railway station.
