A painting gallery located in the rooms of the Palazzo della Pilotta. Its beginnings date back to the 16th century and the collection of paintings collected by the Farnese family ruling Parma. The original collection was later transferred to Naples and was partially dispersed. It was reunited in the 18th century, and in the following century Anna Austriaczka opened the collection to the public.
Currently, the gallery contains collections of mainly Italian masters from the 15th to 18th centuries, among them Leonardo da Vinci, Bernardo Belotto or Giovani Battisty Tiepolo, as well as foreign painters such as Hans Holbein and Anton van Dyck.Less
