Basilica of Santa Maria della Steccata

A baroque church on the plan of a Greek cross erected at the beginning of the 17th century and being the sanctuary of the Virgin Mary, whose image is worshiped in the main altar. The temple is covered with a monumental dome with arcades, the arms of the naves are ended with hemispheres, and between them are corner chapels. The interior of the church is covered with seventeenth-century illusionist polychromes with scenes from the Holy Bible. Representatives of the Farnese and Bourbon families ruling Parma are buried in the crypt.
