Fragments of defensive walls of ancient Naples. They were erected in Greek times, and their existence is mentioned, among others, in the descriptions of the battles with Hannibal in the 3rd century BC. In ancient times these fortifications were considered impregnable and resisted numerous invasions. Small fragments have survived to this day, partly exposed, partly embedded in newer buildings.
