The cathedral museum is located in the historic interiors of the building adjacent to the cathedral. It was founded in the nineteenth century, and in 2000 it was opened in a new setting. It presents collections of religious art dated from the 11th to the 19th century. These include architectural and decorative elements, sculptures and reliefs, as well as furnishings at the cathedral in Modena from various eras. Among the most valuable exhibits is the altar of St. 11th-century Gemian and 12th-century Gospel Gospel.
