The Sforza Castle Castello Sforzesco is located in the center of Milan. The building houses the Museum of Ancient Art, a gallery of paintings - Pinello Sforzesco, Museum of Applied Arts, Museum of Musical Instruments, Egyptian Museum, Museum of Ancient Art, Museum of Antique Furniture and Wooden Sculptures, Museum of Rondanini Pieta, which contains the last sculpture of Michelangelo and the Prehistoric Museum . There is a fountain in front of the castle. The Sempione Park stretches back.
The castle was built in the 15th century by Francesco Sforza for the residence of the Sforzów family. In its history, it has undergone many conversions and enlargements. In the 16th and 17th centuries it was one of the largest citadels in Europe. In the years 1945–1956 it was restored after being damaged during World War II. At the same time, the building was adapted for museum exhibitions.
