The Palazzo Reale in Milan is a former royal palace with large halls, sophisticated furniture and magnificent stairs. It was also the seat of the government of the Italian city of Milan. Palazzo Reale was founded in antiquity. In the Middle Ages it was the seat of city authorities. The palace was thoroughly restored under the rule of Francesco Sforza. The building was destroyed during the French invasion. The reconstruction of the palace took place in the 18th century under the direction of Giuseppe Piermarini.
