The Mudec Cultural Museum is located in the building of the former Ansaldo industrial complex in Porta Genowa in Milan. Workshops, workshops and creative spaces for culture were created in this place according to the design of architect David Chipperfield. In the museum we can see rich ethnographic collections.
The museum's permanent collection collects collections from various Milan government agencies, which are the result of donations from the mid-nineteenth century to the present day by missionaries, explorers, researchers and collectors, but also from less honorable sources such as loot war and colonialism. The geographical origin of the exhibits includes the Middle and Far East, South and Central America, West and Central Africa, and some elements of Southeast Asia and Oceania.
In addition, there is a library with a rich selection of items outside European art. The museum's mission is to conduct interdisciplinary research on world cultures, in particular on the connections of these cultures with Milan. The museum collects tangible and intangible cultural impressions and remains and creates a space for free dialogue with the communities involved.
