Church of Saint Mary della Passione

Local name: Chiesa di Santa Maria della Passione

The late Renaissance Roman Catholic church of Santa Maria della Passione was built in the 15th century. In its architecture you can also find Baroque elements, e.g. the building's facade added in the 17th century. Inside the church you can see works of art such as the Last Supper by Gaudenzio Ferrari, the fresco of the Madonna della Passione, Crucifixion by Bernardino Campi and works of Carlo Urbino, Daniele Crespi, Giulio Cesare Procaccini.

The original structure of the temple was probably designed by Giovanni Antonio Amadeo, and Giovanni Battagio was responsible for its construction. The church uses organs that were rebuilt in 2001 using the previous baroque instrument. Many famous Italians have been buried in the church, such as Bartolomeo Calco, Ludovico il Moro, the Pirovani family, Taverna Legnani, Litta and Stork.
