The Gallery of Contemporary Art in Milan is located in the 18th-century Villa Reale, a three-story building with two wings, designed by Leopoldo Pollacka. In the gallery's collections you can admire the works of such artists as, for example: Filippini, Ferrari, Fattori, Lega, Boldini, Vincent van Gogh, Manet, Paul Gauguin, Cezanne, Pablo Picasso, Giacomo Balla, Modigliani, Umberto Boccioni, Hayez, Segantini, Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo, Antonio Canova and Mario Marini.
In its collection, the Contemporary Art Gallery has a rich collection of works of art from the period from the 18th to the 20th century, which was collected thanks to donations from rich families from Milan, such as Trevers, Ponti, Vismara and Grassi . Often, temporary exhibitions are organized in the gallery. Villa Reale is known for giving it to Napoleon Bonaparte in 1804. In 1920, the building became state property. The palace in which the gallery is located is surrounded by a garden with a small botanical section.
