Cathedral Museum

Local name: Museo del Duomo

The Great Museum of the Cathedral of Milan is located in the Palazzo Reale building in Piazza del Duomo. The museum covers a usable area of 2,000 square meters. The collection containing works of art and treasures related to the Duomo cathedral is presented in 26 exhibition halls grouped thematically. An important part of the collection are deposits provided by Venerando Fabbrica.

An interesting attraction is the historical path showing the construction phases of the cathedral from 1386 to the 20th century. In the museum you can see about 200 exhibits, including: paintings, sculptures, stained glass, overhangs, terracotta models, graphic materials, tapestries, embroidery, sketches, architectural models, sacrals, wooden models, stained glass and liturgical objects, as well as the cathedral treasury .

The Duomo Museum was opened in 1953, and then reopened in October 2013 after a long renovation period.
