One of the largest astronomical clocks in the world is located in the belfry tower at the Messina Cathedral. It was made in 1933 by the Ungerer company from Strasbourg. The clock is located on four floors and is a complicated mechanism connecting movable figures, pendulums and cogs connected with a dial suspended on the top. It starts every day at noon, and the show of characters related to the history of the city lasts 12 minutes.
