The museum was founded in 2000 in the former kitchen of a Benedictine monastery in Catania. This is a joint project of universities in Catania and Lecce, which is to show the influence of the monastery on the life of cities and mutual relations between religious and burghers. The museum presents the inventions and discoveries that the monks made, as well as the artistic products they created.
