Auronzo di Cadore is a mountain village in the Dolomites. It is surrounded by spectacular rocky peaks, and the whole area is a great place for active tourism.
The greatest attraction of Auronzo di Cadore is its location. It is situated in a valley, by a mountain lake, which in the sun takes on an amazing, intensely blue shade, and in its surroundings there are some of the most famous peaks in the Dolomites. They are mainly the Tre Cime di Laverado, a rocky mountain consisting of three separate "chimneys". Its foothills are a popular trekking area with numerous hiking trails, and climbers with appropriate equipment can climb the summit. Another peak that is often visited is Croda dei Toni.
The mountain surroundings encourage hiking. There are routes of varying difficulty, from walking in the valleys to demanding via ferrata and climbing routes. Some peaks are available to ordinary tourists, others can only be climbed using climbing equipment.
In winter, the area around Auronzo di Cadore is popular with skiers. There is a center with several kilometers of ski slopes here. Auronzo di Cadore can also be the starting point for other ski resorts within a short distance.
